Dilasha was born in Kathmandu, Nepal and immigrated to Omaha, Nebraska in November 2006 with her mother, brother, and beloved late father. At a young age, she had started to have a calling for healthcare, noticing that healing people from symptoms of pain and discomfort, and mental and physical illnesses, brought significant improvement in their standard of living. As her own father became ill with renal disease while she was studying pre- medicine, she not only became more aware of disease and illness, but also gaps in health care locally, nationwide, and globally. While in college, she also became active with non profit organizations/ clubs like local homeless shelters, free medical clinics, president of cultural clubs, fundraisers for education locally and internationally, host of events to create awareness regarding social issues, etc. During her third year of medical school, with her family's inspiration, she decided to enter and ultimately won the Miss Nepal USA 2018 pageant, which opened a wide avenue of leadership opportunities for her. She became familiar with works of inspirational figures like Hon. Scott Delisi (ex- ambassador from US to Nepal), Mr. Amit Sah (president of Miss Nepal USA organization and various other cultural corporations), and Mr. Lila Dahal (president of Blood Donors of America). It is through exploration of platforms like these that Dilasha found Uplift a Child, "which ignited my core value of service like no other", in her words. Now, as a Neurology resident, she hopes and aims to be a representative of Uplift a Child by continuing to support the Nepal chapter, and also promoting awareness, raising funds, and holding expositions for the International chapter.
