Mother of Anuket makes a meagre living as a dishwasher in a restaurant. Anuket’s grandma, who requires regular medical supervision, is also residing there. More than half of the family's money is spent on her medications, leaving only a pittance for their daily needs. It is difficult for them to educate their children. Therefore, they request for financial aid from Uplift A Child so that Anuket may attend school and have a bright future.

  Aziel’s family hails from an isolated area of Kalimpong Hills. Due to a land landslide that occurred there last year, they lost their ancestral land and everything there. They moved to Kalimpong in search of a way to survive because there was no other source of income in their native place. Since Aziel's father had learned to drive while living in his village, he was able to find part-time employment as a driver. However, the income is insufficient to maintain Aziel's family of five, which includes his parents, grandparents, and self. Aziel’s mother is unable to work as she has pain in both her legs and also has to take care of their elderly parents. Though they struggle to educate their children, Aziel’s parents wish to educate him to become either a doctor or a social worker so that he would be able to serve humanity.   Biswa's father used to be a porter at the bus stop. He used to consume a lot of alcohol and spend most of his income on it. He once injured his back while carrying a load onto the top of a bus because he was in a drunken state of mind. He was unable to work for seven months. He is still unable to lift any heavy loads. With her only source of income, the mother struggles to provide for her family of four. She makes her earnings as a maid in the neighborhood. Biswa wants to become a police officer in future. His mother tries hard to educate him but with her low income she is unable to pay for his schooling.   The parents of Shahadev originate from a hilly area of Nepal. They lost their possessions in a landslide at their ancestral home, so they travelled to Kalimpong in search of work. They reside in a little house provided by the father's employer because they don't have their own home. The father is a labourer for a supplier of cooking gas. The father is the only bread earner for this family of four. He must take care of the medical expense of his mother – in –law as well as she has no other children except the mother of Shahadev. Our local volunteer identified the family's needs and suggested that this child be sponsored. Shahadev confidently responded that he would become an Army Officer when our volunteer asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. His parents also want him to serve the country and thus requests Uplift A Child to help educate Shahadev.
